PUPS PRODUCED BY BORIS

Oliver was ‘n huge blessing in my life and the start of the white-bearded teddiebear Hadeshua Schnauzers…  huge soft creamish white beards in contrast with a thick, black, soft coat (which can turn silvery with age).  He is dad of most of our younger breeding Schnauzers.  It is so sad how fast time flies by… Oliver is retired and living life to the fullest with us on the farm.

“My liefste Ollie-beer, jy is die “legend” van Hadeshua Stars se Mini Schnauzers.  Jy het so baie harte geraak en volgemaak met jou pragtige puppies wat deur jou gevorm is.  Jy is baie spesiaal en ons sal vir jou die beste sorg gee soos jy nou ‘n ou-man raak”

HASIE (LUCY) 2019 - 2026

Hasie was one of our very happy girls, with the energy of an Energizer bunny—that’s exactly how she got her name. On top of that, she had little upright ears just like a bunny. There will always be a void on our farm without Hasie.

She was incredibly talkative and knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it, and she would not stop “talking” until she got her way. All day long, she made her sharp little voice heard as she scolded the dear, pigeons, guinea fowl, and all kinds of wildlife, making sure they stayed out of her space.

Around 2023, Hasie developed a soft lump on her hindquarters. At first, we didn’t think much of it, but over time it started to grow. We had our vet examine it, and from the beginning she was concerned about the mass. She removed the lump and sent it for analysis. It turned out to be a type of cancer growing beneath the skin, already beginning to spread into some of her organs, like the spleen.

After the first surgery, the lump started growing again, and within a year it had become so large that it looked like a massive hanging sac. Once more, our vet attempted to remove it, but by then the tumor had already grown into her internal organs. Another challenge was that the mass was so attached to the skin that it was impossible to separate it, and because it had become so enormous, there was very little skin left to close the wound properly.

The tumor caused Hasie to lose a great deal of blood. She became very weak, and the bleeding simply would not stop. Inus urgently rushed to Cape Town to fetch blood plasma, hoping it would help her blood clot. After a week filled with tears, we won that battle, and Hasie slowly began to recover.

Two weeks later, we took her to the sea for a holiday so she could run freely on the beach one last time. We knew we would not be able to operate again, and that if the tumor grew so aggressively once more, we would have to make the difficult decision to let her go.

But Hasie pushed on for another year. She carried on as she always had—the tumor never seemed to bother her. She went about her days as normal, making her sharp little voice heard every single day… and the wildlife remained very aware of her presence.

Until one morning, Hasie no longer wanted to chase the deer, and we knew it was time. The tumor had grown incredibly large, and we suspect it had begun to bleed internally.

That afternoon, our wonderful vet came out to the farm. Hasie took her final walks, enjoyed her last treats, and fell asleep in our arms. Then our vet gently stilled her little heart.

I can only imagine how happily she is now running and playing in dog heaven, chasing deer once again.

Although we miss you terribly, our Hasie child, we know you are in the best place. Your little voice will never fade from our hearts. There will never be another Hasie like you, and we love you dearly and will carry you in our hearts always.

ARABELLA 2021 - 2025

Arabella’s loss in 2025 due to Closed Pyometra was a tragic and sudden event. Closed Pyometra is a severe uterine infection that develops rapidly and often without obvious early signs, making it difficult to detect in time. This condition can occur when a female dog’s uterus becomes infected and fills with pus, but the cervix remains closed, preventing drainage and causing a dangerous buildup.

In Arabella’s case, the decision to rest her for a year without breeding after her heat cycle contributed to the development of Closed Pyometra. When a female dog is not bred or spayed after heat, hormonal changes can cause the uterine lining to thicken and become susceptible to infection. This highlights the importance of monitoring unbred females closely during and after their heat cycles, as Pyometra can progress rapidly and become life-threatening without prompt veterinary intervention.

Arabella’s passing is a reminder of the risks associated with reproductive health in intact female dogs and the need for careful management and awareness of symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite, abdominal swelling, or unusual discharge, even when these signs are subtle or absent.

The following Schnauzer girls have finished their breeding careers and now enjoy a well-deserved, comfortable retirement.  Our females are spayed at around 5 years of age, after which they simply enjoy their lives here on the farm.  The Schnauzers are next-level pack dogs;  they have an incredible love for each other, and we do not break those strong bonds.  For this reason, we do not rehome our dogs at all.  They enjoy a relaxed life while still keeping watch over the property with great dedication.  Visitors will meet these precious souls while driving onto the farm.

To visitors, it may seem like we have an overwhelming number of dogs, but please keep in mind that not all the dogs you see are breeding dogs. More than half of our dogs are spayed or neutered, and we care for them until the day they pass away.

These dogs still receive the very best care, along with just as much love and attention as all the others. This ensures every dog on the farm lives a happy, healthy life regardless of their breeding status.

I am full of gratitude and appreciation for Ronel and Hadeshua stars. Our new miniature schnauzer is the most amazing little guy I’ve ever seen - the most well adjusted, confident and affectionate pup. Ronel went so far above and beyond to facilitate and get our puppy to us in Kenya, always going the extra mile to make sure our pup was safe and minimise extra costs for us. It is clear how much these puppies are cared for and loved, and we are so lucky to have a Hadeshua star in our household! Thanks again Ronel, we will appreciate you everyday for years to come!

What a day! Thank you for trusting us with your baby. He is settling nicely and Bailey is in protective mode. They are playing and now both completely passed out in bed. Charlie is so full of bashful character. We are head over heels in love already. You really do make magic with your babies…and their parents! 💛💛💛

Cruz is like a dream come true in our lives. From day one, he's been a quick learner, mastering potty training in just two days and snoozing like a little angel. But it's not just his good behavior that makes him special; it's his adorable habit of lying on his back that melts our hearts every time. We can't help but stare at him in awe, marveling at his beauty. And it's not just us; everyone we meet can't get enough of him either. Cruz has this magical effect on people, making heads turn wherever we go. It's like he's the most wonderful, gentle, loving dog on the planet, and we're not the only ones who think so. He truly is the best, most beautiful pup ever.
